Advised to close the windows
Finally. I can now put my alarm clock in the bottom of the sock drawer for a few weeks, lose the socks and take some time to get reacquainted with the dog during daylight hours. Vacation is upon me. More or less; there is still some issues involving painting (dangerous pastime for the colourblind among us).
My bus home this afternoon had an unexpected incident involving a five inch watermain. There is some heavy reconstruction going on in one neighbourhood, and the local homes are being temporarily tied to city water using a yellow plastic pipe and some fire hoses that have been set into the roadway. A corner joint broke just before our bus was turning in the general vicinity, so the bus driver had to halt and ponder. He advised the sleepy passengers to close all the windows, as there seemed to be a “rainy section” ahead. That much water comes with that much force… the bus was hit hard and we went through a mini-waterfall moment. I’m glad that the Novabus people pride themselves on the waterproofing of the workmanship.
Now we can start mining the basement for camping gear; we might be on the road as early as after the weekend. Son #2 is reaching the age of majority in a matter of hours, and we’ve decided to stay home and thwart the party mentality. A counter offer of orange pop and a decorated chocolate cake hasn’t been met with much enthusiasm, but if he gets hungry enough…
The signs of summer are everywhere. Sunshine. Pool splashes. Empty offices at work as the staff starts the annual cycle of controlled absences. I, for one, have decided to follow the flow.
