That “being at home” experience
Just watched a movie that surprised me. An “oldie”, in my kids’ terms. A Stephen King tale, expanded and improved. Shawshank Redemption. And here’s why.
Hollywood has a product to sell. Advertising works. Some movies are given a meme quality, through trailers and reviews. Since I rarely go to the cinema, the effort is lost on me. But, ideas and impressions stick, and I am left with the feeling that I know about many movies I’ve not seen. Case in point. I knew that the story involved a prison…
Several hours later, I have to admit that I liked the movie. Sure, there was a prison, but there was also a story line that went from start to finish. In fact, without giving away any spoilers, I’d recommend this one to you, if you’ve missed it.
Around the house, today, the dog showed a high degree of satisfaction with the “being at home” experience. Able to go to his water bowl, or request a front yard tour, or checking out passersby (loudly) are all good points in a dog’s life. Staying in a hotel room, or sitting in a chilly car; not so much.
Out to play taxi, I did check out the surplus store. They’ve redistributed the stuff inside, and the expensive things are now closer to the front door and cash register. Old filing cabinets and counters are still at the back. All I did was look around. Had to get back and join the dog in the “being at home” experience.
