Edge of the pool

posted in computing |

This is (was?) my second attempt at “running a blog”. My first effort was a low-effort effort (nice juxtaposing of a verb and a noun, or something like that!), but just not satisfying. The second time around, due to the quality of WordPress and the hobbyist portion of having a personal server, is turning out to be much more enjoyable. I’m even becoming a bit of an evangelist at the office.

What surprises me is to find out just how many other people are blogging, hacking the software and having as much fun as I am. I find new strategies, resources and trivial detail almost every day. Given the evolutionary curve that this seems to follow, I should soon begin to advertise this site, start permalinking and trackbacking and spambashing and a whole slew of other things that I don’t understand yet.

Maybe, by springtime, if I don’t “crash and burn”, this will be bigger than all the other techno-efforts I’ve fostered over the past two decades. Onward and ever upward: that was my quote in a high school yearbook about a lifetime ago.
