People look older, the more time passes

posted in environment |

Pardon my moment of stress. The edit window is open, and I haven’t a clue what I’m going to write about today.

For the record, it doesn’t happen often. I checked the news feed; other than an intensifying war in the Middle east, and a promise of a new provincial budget tomorrow, that was a wasted moment. We started testing “online pay slips” this week, and I can confirm that the screen version closely resembles the printed version. That’s probably a positive thing. While checking, I decided to verify the ratio of deductions to gross pay amount. Depressing: 36% deducted at source is a sign that I’m not getting to the gold standard any time soon. Great preparation for retirement levels of revenue.

The ratio of me outside during daylight hours is also shrinking, and if present trends continue I’m going to dig out that “flashlight mounted on my head” contraption that I keep around for summer camping. Or declare Christmas vacation. One or the other, sounds like fun.

Happened to see some photos (recent) of people I haven’t seen since the mid ’70s. No Dorian Grey thing going on here. I wonder about stuff like that, sometimes. You know, they still look “similar”, and if I crossed them on the sidewalk, I might clue in that I should say hello. For the record, I don’t look a day over… scratch that thought.

Tried to explain the basic attraction of SDR to someone, last evening. By the look on their face, my enthusiasm wasn’t contagious. Perhaps if they understood CW…
