Wednesday morning quarterbacks

One more reason that I dislike 64-bit Windows: printer drivers that work, sometimes. Not exactly what a support tech wants in the house. The new “do everything” printer that I installed last week works fine, with a 32-bit driver “at the wheel”. Change to the other possibility, and I get calls. The question is far from solved, and when I get around to calling the manufacturer (and point out that there is a working solution), I know what their carefully measured advice will be.

Set up a couple of telephones today. One extension description intrigued me, so I called the school. Yes, they now have a videoconference room. First time I heard about it, and since the school next door already has a system, it seems redundant. And did I mention that I’m nominally responsible for VC support? I learn new things, every day. I’m an old dog, and new tricks aren’t what I want at this point.

The elections (to the south of us) are over, and the better candidate won. Enough said. Won’t be the case, though; the Wednesday morning quarterbacking has already started. Four years until the next time. Give it a rest, already!

I’m pretending to be seasonally “tough”. My boots, mitts and tuque are still in storage. The mornings / evenings are starting to get frisky… this whole nordic spirit thing isn’t close to my heart, and I don’t appreciate chillblains. Note to self: look up the etymology of that term.

And, no, the snow tires aren’t installed. The snow will be, soon.
