Remote access for the novelty
Another example of how fast time goes by (when you’re a little older; at the tender edge of life, time seems limitless). Today, while someone was cleaning out accumulated files, he unearthed a letter announcing a retirement. In fact, the last one in our office group. Seven years ago, today. Seems like only a few weeks ago. I was also intrigued to read that the retiree had the same number of years of service as I do (now). Maybe my dream of changing profession isn’t that “off the wall”, after all.
We’re into some nice weather, with the temperature over 18C this afternoon. A lot of interest in Hurricane Sandy, which may turn north and west as early as the coming weekend. Methinks that if the storm matures, we’ll remember it in years to come.
I’m currently connected to the Pi in a terminal session. Works fine. No X, but that would have been off the wall. I headed out to the flea market and picked up a keyboard and mouse at suppertime. For not much money, I can stop undoing son #3’s setup. Go ahead, kid; say thanks.
Showing a new AIS app to someone else in the office. The phone has morphed into so much more, and when I can find out the credentials (is that a valid term, here) of a ship in the harbour – that’s neat. Not only a name, but the callsign, tonnage, some photos. A cornucopia of information for those who care. I care.
My updating of the Pi just sidestepped into Spanish. Wonder what repository I’ve tapped into?
