Follow the unfamiliar lanes
More new faces around the campground, in time to celebrate the weekend. For us, the failure to properly shop for groceries means that local restaurants are profiting from our sojourn. They aren’t complaining.
This was a day to go down unfamiliar roads. First, along the North side, checking out the various beaches that are just a turn indication on the highway. Then, south to Beach Cove where the camera gear was unpacked. A chance to pretend we were photographers with good eyes. I’ll check my results in a couple of days. More roads; Panmure (from end to end), Brudenell (among the various campsites and golf ranges). Just curious: if one ever catches a golf, how do you eat it?
And then there was eating. A good rule of thumb is to follow the local crowd. The bakery (actually, there are several) in Montague has a clientele that must make the competition jealous. We had a full meal of chili for only a couple of dollars plus shared table space.
A visit to the Roma settlement left me puzzled. Why were all of the exhibits in one language? Although bilingual service was available, the reading matter belied the French story. No matter. We bought the book and admired the cellar hole.
The bookstore in Murray (River or Harbour?) had a different pricing model in place. 50% off all marked prices, subject to further discounts if you didn’t have the change. Is this a sign that return visits won’t be possible?
Supper at Cape Light was good. Not great. Maybe reservations lead to better fare.
