The catalyst in the process

posted in environment |

Certain processes require a catalyst. At least, that’s what I’ve gleaned from my contact with the industrial world over the decades. We forget that the same rules play out in life. Take my goal of clearing the basement. I’m willing, I’m able, I’m… lazy. There; said it. Now to the catalyst part.

When I arrived home this afternoon, distracted by the police car parked at the corner (stop sign duty), there were two refuse bins parked by the front door. Green and blue. Symbolic. Anyhow, son #2 was home for a visit, and he was inspired. Since he plans to leave on his bike journey of a lifetime in about two week, he has a deadline of his own. He must move out of his current apartment, and store a certain quantity of goods in the secure location known as MAPB (Mom & Pop’s Basement). Easier said than done, because I’ve been storing up for the eventual meltdown of civilization for years.

But, youth is a synonym for energy to spare. He was actually tackling the problem head on. Dizzy with the process, I joined in, and we created/found a hole to store some stuff. More space will be made available, after the next Blue and Green Day (garbage pickup). In synchronicity, one of my blog inspirations is into the same process, albeit with a different catalyst. Here, a link.

Rob has wisdom (I hope to get my package in the mail, some day soon). He writes well, on a wide range of topics. Although he terrifies me with dystopian views, I return to the fountain on a regular basis.
