Planning an exciting weekender

posted in environment |

Let’s set the stage. It’s Friday night. I’ve got the house and the car to myself, with a whole tank of gas. Tax refunds are half in. And since I had a restless night, ending at 04h00, I’m too tired to do anything else except go to bed. Somehow, I thought that life as a grownup would be “funner”.

It doesn’t matter. I appreciate the pleasure of a good night’s sleep. The dog knows exactly what I mean (thus the penchant for guarding the couch with closed eyes). And tomorrow, I can reevaluate things, by the light of a new day. I happened to catch the first half of that Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame that was broadcast earlier this week, and I remain convinced that music was better when I was young. Back when my high frequency range was still reasonable, and there wasn’t a “white noise” on one side. Stereo is better.

Maybe I can go to the flea market tomorrow. You know, checking out how recycling really works. Maybe score some cheap antenna wire, or some oddball tool from that hardware vendor. Avoiding the table with the tin can electrical apparatus operated by really pushy people with an alternate grasp of reality.

Or, I can look for cheap sneakers, in case my current pair suffer a blowout. The possibility for repair is minimal, so I’m planning ahead here. Perhaps I can drag one of the kids along, for moral support. We’ll see.

Whatever I choose, it will be fun.
