Training with a flavour
Odd training session at work today. Offered as a freebie by a company that sells us gear, we learned that a lot of our equipment was obsolete and due for replacement. For the remainder of our stuff, there were firmware updates available, as long as our service contract was in order. And yes, there were substantial fees for both the service contract and the updates. As for actual training, not so much.
I guess their view of things is motivated by something other than good will to men and peace on earth.
The email server was down for several minutes this morning. I was made aware of the situation, multiple times.
We’ve just finished our suppertime movie (hey, you pay for it, then you watch it). Triage, with Colin Farrell. Rough content for a mealtime diversion, but I am amazed at how the good Mr. Farrell comes across. Consistently, he’s the guy you’d hate to have as a neighbour, but he sure can act.
The air conditioning is now on at work. We’re doubly aware: it’s freezing and the mechanical noise level is through the roof. At certain moments, we wondered if the units were going through the roof, literally. I work in an older building, so the risk is real. Since the outside temperature is back to regular levels, this might be overkill. I guess they’d be too busy to come back once the sun starts to shine.
The price of gas has reached $1.47/l which means that summertime is going to be crazy.
