A small comparison
Bigger is better, right? Bet the gang that were onboard the Titanic thought so, at first. Later, not so much. Since we’re into the week to remember, here’s a comparison of then vs now. I’m not sure if the Oasis has been this far up the river, but it would sure be cool to see something that big.
I made it on to a moored ship, er, supership once. Begged and got a tour of the radio room. Nothing like the old Marconi room that has appeared in movies. More like a really clean operating room. Satellites, you know. As for the rest of the ship, I only remember that it was like any other big hotel. No sense of seaworthiness. Escalators and elevators.
Compare that to the ferries from last summer. We didn’t even bother going outside. Too cold and windy, even if it was late in July. With that in mind, time transport us back to 1912, the month of April. Methinks it wasn’t any warmer (icebergs). And the swimming (outside of the pool) was not a recommended cruise activity.
I’m sure the week will provide other glimpses into life in the disaster lane.
I had reason to contact Dell service today. To be fair, I had one of those gold status accounts watching my back, but these guys are good! The questions were to the point, the diagnostics were accurate; tomorrow a new motherboard will come in (with its own technician). Compare that to the level of service most users get when their laptops go sour. Go for the shiny golden service plan!
