Now discuss politely
That wasn’t said, but then some things don’t have to be. The “Town Hall” meeting did its daylong seminar, with about the expected numbers, and the search for consensus was the rule of the day. No shouting or shaking of fists in this group hug. We’re all in this boat together, so please don’t rock things would have been a great banner logo.
Actually, any time a group of educated educators can sit together and just trade aphorisms, they do so. Teachers are trained to be as little like Sister Mary Elephant as possible, even though… the day went by without incident. By mid-afternoon I was back in the van and homeward bound. In passing, my projector combos worked perfectly all day long (because I brought my own laptop, that works when it should). I even managed to “capture” the music video produced by the school where I worked for years and years.
The rest of the family followed a better plan, and went to the local “Salon des livres” where a number of interesting conferences and “meet the writer” tables kept them happy and ready to buy. This is not a public library conference. I was able to provide a burger supper at the end of the day.
On other notes, my mother phoned me from Alabama. On her cell. She has never been to the South before, nor has she owned a cellphone up to now, so I guess I have things to look forward to when my senior moment finally arrive.
