Let the screens proliferate

posted in computing |

I use multiple screens with my computers, and I highly recommend it. More is better.

With my laptop, things are easy. Plug in a VGA monitor, set things up for extended desktop and enjoy the new real estate. Another newer laptop came into the house several months ago; no VGA port. Not funny. The gang over at eBay came through, and with a MiniDisplayport adapter (to VGA) I was able to play the game.

And then my son, with the request to be just like the big folk. Except, he has a desktop machine. The new screen (see yesterday for that tale) has an HDMI port, as does the computer. Wiggle in behind the stack of gear, plug in more wires and suddenly he, too, has a machine that cries out for a game or two. I like this kind of progress.

In fact, I now have the cables necessary for the Playbook, the iPad, the PS3; heck, just about everything. Remember, more is better.

In the silly section of the daily news, take note of the Habs and their language-challenged fans. Tonight, although I doubt it will be televised, the fringe will be protesting that the current coach isn’t bilingual. My take on the situation: Go! That’s about all a coach ever says, and if it requires that team members take special advanced language training to understand the dude in the suit, so be it. The fringe are also going to protest bilingual announcements, music that was written by someone other than a provincially approved composer and whatever else comes to mind during the rant and rave session. I doubt that bilingual nature of our national currency will be an issue.
