No debate possible
There, the evening’s entertainment is over. Might as well get some warm milk and head off to bed. The provincial campaign debate with three of the better than two dozen political parties on the floor has just ended. Yawn… I’m very sleepy.
Television is hardly a good platform for a debate; the shoe throwing and shouted insults are hard to see on the little screen. Oh wait, there wasn’t any of that stuff. This was civilized; fit for a kindergarten showcase, complete with muffed lines and missed entries. Three leaders with nothing to say.
In fact, the highlight may have been when a question on finances was answered with a remark on prison reform. Or perhaps when the question on programs was answered by a demonstration of a government document about structural weaknesses in an overpass. Wait, you can’t show that here. Wrong place; wrong time.
Time to check when the advance polls will open, so that I don’t have to stand in line. That would be a serious waste of time.
