A panoply of features for a fistful of dollars

Although he didn’t sing it at Woodstock, Stephen Stills did coin the lyrical phrase “If you can’t be with the one you love, love the one you’re with”. He sang it; dogs live it.

I woke up this morning with the dog cuddled against my back. Not my dog, a visitor. A loaner. My son was busy, so the dog made me the proxy. Canine loyalty is exaggerated, from here. Yes, it was comforting. Just, unexpected. For the record, I’ve returned the dog (I was tired of retrieving things).

Anyhow, we made it to the local photo equipment show that we’d missed yesterday due to unscheduled family moments. A chance to pay for parking, pay for admission, pay for anything that catches your eye. Or not. I wanted to purchase a flash diffuser, but the lack of communication between the vendor and the cashier saw me rebuffed after twenty minutes in a queue. Agreed, the show cost me less, but that wasn’t the photo effect I wanted.

I would have purchased a second camera body if I’d felt richer. I know what I want, and I know that a year from now there’ll be something in the product line that does more. I acted frugally, and for that I want a silver star. Or maybe gold. Which has greater resale value? In the case of the camera, a second body will give me video capability (I probably need it, right?) and greater pixel count (I probably need it as well, right?) Oh, and better ISO range. A panoply of features, for a fistful of dollars.
