Recyclable constraints

posted in environment |

Part of the new city plan is to increase the quantity of material going to the blue box patrol, with a decrease in our burn and bury. Good plan. One small bit of fine-tuning is needed, though.

A better blue box. We’ve had a system in place in our city for roughly a decade, and the equipment is showing a few signs of our diligence. In other terms, we will soon need to recycle our blue bin. It’s been dinged, cracked, taped, run over… there’s even a few pieces missing. By comparison, our green dumpster is rarely full, even after weeks without a curb visit, and it is pristine. Solid. Still prone to blowing over in gale winds, but solid.

So, I await the arrival, perhaps as early as next April, of a similar blue dumpster to take on the ever-growing volume of valuable reuseables. Meanwhile, I’ve bought another roll of duct tape. Following the “Red Green School Of Reconstruction”, I’ll bind it together until spring.
