In the calm of libraries

posted in travel |

Two libraries in one afternoon; if you come on holiday with me and my gang,  prepare to do things one book at a time.

Actually, we’ve been chasing stable wifi, and after seeing the magic user code written on a large poster near the main stairwell, we knew the second site would be a resounding success. Quietly, of course, since libraries are peaceful havens. I now have an “exported datafile”, should this server take leave of its senses again.

There’s something really nice about coming home. Meeting people I know on the sidewalk, or in the library, or over coffee. The only thing missing is the kids, and they have a parallel existence.

Some new titles for the Island aficionado in local bookstores. Someday, I’d like to see my work on the shelves, but that will require writing a book (first). Plans to be made.

We did another of those “will we make it” trips, running almost on empty this morning. The scientific answer would be to do some controlled experimentation. Purchase a spare can of fuel, let the warning light come on, drive until things stop, and note how far the reserve actually carries us. Sounds like a lot of work, when we could simply decide to never let the fuel level get down to critical. Wisdom versus adventure. Given that I’ve not had to walk anywhere (yet)…

Lots of live performance outside the Confederation Centre. Probably more than inside, given the penchant for selling expensive show seats to the visiting population. On another note, there’s still a sign advertising double decker bus tours. Guess that requires an edit.
