A reason to stay tuned

posted in media |

Memo to the guy who handles scheduling at the CBC. Please move George to a later time slot, where he can really do some damage to the ratings game. Thanks.

I share space in a house that has an investigative window, located centrally in the living room. The window with no curtains. The CSI view of the world. Seriously, I live under the delusion/illusion that there is a team of crack investigators on call, all the time. At least, all of prime time. Should I pry the channel changer out of the hands of other family members, I would find that a crime is in solve mode no matter what the number on the screen.

Until tonight. Accidentally, the TV remained on CBC Newsworld beyond the supper news slot, and I finally got to watch “The Hour”. The George Stroumboulopoulos vehicle. And, folks, I was mesmerized. The man is unique. This at 8 pm. Now, I know, the web site mentions that he is on later, somewhere. Thank goodness. I want others to blip through the monologues offered up by Dave and Jay and Conan and a few others to finally hear George. Somehow, they won’t likely continue the aimless surf. Here is TV for the open-minded.

For those who are rich enough to own a portable video player, here is a link to the feed: [http://www.cbc.ca/thehour/rss.php]. I may have to ask Santa to get me one of the new media toys, so I can never again miss the topic of the day. Stay tuned may start to take on real meaning.
