The right hand knows not what the left hand is doing
Apparently, one sign of extreme obesity is that the individual cannot see personal appendages (where did the toes go?) I think that our provincial government may have a problem.
Let’s look at a few examples of the confusion which currently reigns.
School reform: the ministry has been busily modifying curriculum for the last number of years. This week, its own superior council advised the minister to take recess. After study, the council notes that the stakeholders no longer understand where the goal line is located. The minister, of course, has announced that the advice will be taken under advisement. Shall I paraphrase?
Right now, school boards are preparing performance contracts that will be signed “imminently”. School boards must demonstrate their intention to increase rates of “graduation”. Meanwhile, the same school boards have been informed that from now on, special classes are “out”. There will be uniform exams, and all students are now equal. Shall I paraphrase?
Right now, the ministry of transport is busy repairing damaged asphalt in one section of the city. The road surface contains asbestos fibre, so the cost of removal is 1000 % higher than in the case of ordinary macadam. You know the game: special body suits, decontamination procedures, encapsulation, etc. Meanwhile, that same ministry of transport is advising contractors to increase the amount of asbestos fibre used in road surface. Why? Because one area of the province is (practically) the only place left on the planet where the mineral is still extracted and transformed. Governments exist to protect local industry. No paraphrase necessary.
When you no longer see your own toes, either get a good mirror, or accept that it’s time for a slimming down plan.
