Out for a drive
Given that the weather was good and the day had nothing else that offered a constraint, (things like going to work) the parents took occasion to go visit the parents.
It’s getting easier to leave the “kiddies” at home for the day. The dog is old enough to watch out for imminent disaster, and the refrigerator is rarely emptied in the span of a few hours. So, we put the GPS in its place of honour, packed coats in case of a sudden onset of the next ice age and headed south into the hills.
The road to the Frontenac region is one of hills and valleys. Not really mountains, but nothing you want to put the bicycle to for fun. Short hard climbs and descents. When we still had a Renault 5 (Le Car), the trip required concentration and foresight; if you didn’t accelerate on the downslope, you didn’t make it up the other side. Now, with a big old 6-cylinder we can just watch the scenery go by. Pretty scenery, just at the point of picking up fall colours.
Anyhow, we (the parents of the first part) went to visit the in-laws (the parents of the second part). A chance to say hello before the snowbirds head for the deep South.
Geting home, I faced the frustrating debris of my home network. Some boy genius decided to fix a problem by undoing all the wires for six computers and two printers. I hate the “all in a day’s work” motto, because this one will be “all in an unnecessary day’s end’s work” before the house gets its ‘Net back in order.
