Batteries for my backup
The queue was short, the needle was long and the result was simple. One less chance of catching the flu this year. My second variety of vaccination has been adminstered and I’m ready to face the next sniffling soul that crosses my path.
Getting out of the house also provided an opportunity to replace the batteries in my alarm clock. Try to imagine the paradox that would occur, if I turned off a clock that had already stopped. I’ve been trusting the same backup to my own biorhythms for close to three decades. A little gem that I purchased at a Radio Shack store back when my sleep habits were less disciplined. The only scar (on the clock) comes from an inquisitive dog tooth; no food value there, so little damage done.
I discovered that standard USB cables are priced beyond any reality, while my local dollar store stocks dozens of extension cables for (you guessed it) a dollar. Could someone please adjust the stockkeeping number and get a bit of a mix. My home supply of cheap wires has been dropping. Turns out that my local high school has decided that I’m a preferred supplier.
Tonight, APTN is showing an old Will Smith flick, “Wild Wild West“. Think of this one as a pony opera for geeks. Lots of gadget compensate for a mediocre script, but I’m easily amazed. I’ve learned that there’s a whole community of steampunk fans, and there may be other movies with similar eye candy. I can better imagine how my (potential) grandchildren might someday respond to a basement full of old computers.
