Pots and pans and shopping sprees

posted in travel |

Sitting in Casa Mia, with a delicious piece of mangoberry cheesecake and good coffee, I’m starting to appreciate this vacation thing. It helps when son #3 sends a Facebook advisory that the lawn is growing wildly. Incessant precipitation or some such thing. Not my worry.

The friendly faces at Papa Joe’s were ready to fill me full of boiled dinner – my plate overflowed with good food. If only I could find a local source for salty beef we’d be able to maintain this level of fine dining all winter long, using the pots from Paderno.

Today was our turn at the arena sale; the soft ice cream machines were sold out, but we did find the added cookware to allow meals from one of those books that have accumulated over the years. You know, I could move to something that goes beyond a one-flavour stew.

My search for this year’s Island Magazine came to a head in at Beaconsfield. The Bookmark is still trying to shoehorn their collection into the new temporary quarters.

Bit of a struggle for the summer help to track down the next-to-last volume out in the back, but I’m a model of shopping patience. When was the last time someone wrote up a credit card slip for you? Slick-chic.

There are a number of concerts on my radar, including one that is advertised as a Gaelic Ceilidh next Sunday. Could be interesting. With only two people to make decisions this summer, we seem to be more flexible in our schedule. I’ve rejected out of hand the suggestion that we make a quick side trip home to collect a referee; he and we will be happier without two extra days of highway madness.
