Some gifts more than others

posted in computing |

At work, I’ve been putting newer faster machines on some of the desks, and the reactions have been very low key. Today, I placed a tenpack of new LCD screens around the building, and you’d think my name was Santa. Funny how a faster processor means very little, but a new flat screen means that you’ve joined the new Millennium.

The downside is that the new screens impact 20% of the team. The rest are left wondering why there are two sets of uniforms for the team, or why the coach only knows the names of some of the players. Just a bit more money would have gone so much further…

The space shuttle is back in space. In spite of obvious problems with the fuel tanks, the chance to celebrate July 4th with some really big fireworks just couldn’t be missed, I guess.
