The morning after

Every fancy dress ball has a detail for the next day; Mom and Dad returning the rented clothes to the rental place. The staff were awaiting the return of some 350 suits in a very short time, which all have to be checked, cleaned and warehoused for the next butterfly season. I wonder how I’d do with such a business model.

We spent some time shopping for video gear and huge TVs. Not buying; shopping. The CFL footage was spectacular – not your father’s CBC to be sure. We also added an interesting mixture of kitchen tools; spice rack, wok, covers, and other assorted sundry items that don’t get replaced often. Six ramequins with that, sir?

However, buying such things doesn’t mean that they will be put into duty immediately. Supper came from the Colonel. The poor little kids running the store on a hot holiday weekend were doing so without their Interac machine, which means making change. The stress factor was elevated…
