Industrial quantity storage

posted in economy |

Today was the “end of the year” for schools, and my sons are now officially on summer hours. I guess that means that the youngest will not be seen before noon any time soon. The others should be home by then…

We went shopping this evening. The flowers I thought I’d seen on the counter were a false alarm; flowers do have to go in the refrigerator after all, but first they have to be purchased, so we set off to take care of that detail. I realize just how my limited colour vision would be a handicap in the decorating trade, although I did work for four years in greenhouses. Nothing in the store stood out except for the giant wall clock, which I could read with my glasses off. Wow.

On a whim we stopped into Future Shop and brought home a new hard drive. 250 Gigabytes for a hundred bucks. That makes live storage cheaper than blank CD-ROMs. It also is a huge amount of space, when compared with the 30 Megabyte drive still down in the basement. I can’t tell how it will be in quality, so we took the “extended warranty for twenty dollars” but it certainly qualifies as industrial quantity storage.
