Songs, stress and serious cinema
Fewer fingers needed each week, as the Idol decimation continues. For me, a chance to forget my growing stress, and the mute button serves as protection from the commercial interludes that more and more intrusive. At least we’ll soon get to hear more than one “less than two minutes to show your star quality” song; right now the comments are taking a lion’s share of airtime. Except for the final performance this evening, where Simon spoke for the team and even stood up and applauded. My “emo” mood wasn’t on for Adam, though.
With eight left, the talents are clear: Danny, Alliston and … OK, the rest are serving as filler for me, but I don’t get to vote, so my choices could be headed home any time now. Back to my stress. I’m not supposed to “be here”. I’ve already had the table time, and I know what’s ahead. The only unknown has to do with the intricate clauses of our collective agreement; will I be unpaid for a couple of weeks, or will the calendar work on my behalf?
There was another interview with Karine Vanasse this evening, in an odd little studio program where the interviewer (Christiane Charette) is absent, and comes in via videoconference. I find that Karine has a manner of presenting her own ideas, rather than parroting as do most “stars”. It fits well with the various films she has done in the last decade. Imagine, an actor with something to say. Who knew? Time to watch some more videos from the collection.
