The risks of DLL disease

A colleague stopped by to see how one might recover from DLL errors. Installed a new iPod and things just don’t function anymore. More than faintly reminiscent of the gallery of install horrors with a product called QuickTime.

Do I detect a pattern here? A company which has been proudly and loudly a monoculture creates software for “the unwashed masses” aka Windows users. Windows breaks. Not their fault, says the first company, proudly and loudly. Don’t throw stones, throw apples…
