Finally, a non-routine day
Housework is a drudge, right? What if you have motivation? In today’s case, we have a visitor. Total stranger, spending the night. The obligation, then, is to quickly clean up. Pretend to be socially civilized. Even go with the idea that we keep the place this neat and tidy, all the time. I know, a myth in the making. But, we did our best, and when the supper table was set, we seemed like normal folk. I think.
Because I have great plans and little motivation, someone threw a “wrench” into things. What if I completed the setup in my studio area, and then we added a new brass instrument to the tone poem? A tuba, or a euphonium? I’m not ready to commit myself, just yet, but it could be an interesting winter.
This is Canada’s latest holiday. Not in place for everyone, just yet, but it’s a seed. By the time my kids take notice, we could have a real day of “reconciliation”, with all of the required labour agreements and codicils to business plans. I’ll wait. This is Year One.
Last evening, I learned that the lad who clears my lane is a former student (of mine, not lane clearing). I hadn’t made the connection. To be fair, I haven’t met him in the last few decades, so I deserve a (what’s that golf term? Mulligan?) Mulligan on this one. Time to go and learn the history behind the term, before sounding totally foolish in public. Anyhow, I will dig through my old planning books to find a reference.
