The tally starts, now!
An important day; required me to find a pencil, and then leave the house for a few minutes. Yes! I voted! Bringing my own marking stick was a nod to the strange times we live in, because historically the booth would contain several cheap pencils. Now, we can’t afford to disinfect them.
Out of interest, I had to calculate how many times I’ve voted (federally) since reaching the age of majority. I was cheated, a couple of times, due to changing my address at inopportune moments. But, at a guess, this was the fourteenth time. The mechanism hasn’t evolved, much. Still a small piece of folded paper with the names of the rich and famous in bold. Never anyone that will actually wield power; I live in the smaller section of the nation.
And within the half-hour, I was home again, to wait for the clock to make it into counting time. In fact, Newfoundland is due to start the real process in about four minutes. We’ll get “our turn” a half-hour later. The TV coverage helps to remind up just how large our country is, geographically. We’ve been promised that the night will be long (days long, apparently), but there should be enough indicators for the press to “call it” around bedtime. I don’t stay up for the rainy coast. Tomorrow, or two days from now, it all comes to the same point.
To kill time, this afternoon, I went out and “exercised” the RV generator. A half hour of a/c, etc. I also placed the sun covers on the south side tires, because UV is hell on wheels.
