No oil spills on my watch
This time around, I wasn’t running late. You see, I got up, decided that my genny oil change had to happen. Soon. Today, soon.
There’s a log file in the unit that keeps track of my efforts. Also, I place little plasticized cards in plain view that detail how long it has been. And for the record, just over 100 hours of runtime have gone by since the last service. Also, a couple of years. The genny only runs on alternate Tuesdays and during emergencies.
Now, for people that do oil changes, regularly, there’s probably a routine. Muscle memory. In my case, I don’t have enough experience to take on important things without a video review. YouTube, to my rescue. Before my morning coffee, I found the proper tools, the proper place to pour just over a liter of old oil and the discipline to cover my tracks with cardboard. It all counts.
Again, before that morning coffee, I had the old oil out, the filter swap completed and the new oil in. Fired things up and enjoyed my newfound satisfaction. Unless we get hit with a major weather disaster, or the total crash of our local power grid, I’m good for another couple of years.
It’s the little details that count, really. I’d hate to have something go wrong with my investment. Tomorrow, I’ll verify the levels and then sign this job off. I work cheap, and I don’t abuse my spirit. I haven’t assigned my next task; that’s what weekends are for. But if you wonder about me and genny… all is good.
