A weak news cycle

posted in travel |

This might be the most normal day I’ve had, in years. With the unexpected arrival of close family, and other members inbound, I moved from my spectator mode to active participant in a group moment. Of course, we had to go to the city, and find people (and get proper parking), but it went well and I’m back home before nightfall.

Although, hunger pangs remind me that I skipped a step in my daily routine. And managing to break a glass of water (thanks, Gravity) meant that there’s now more space in the tumbler store. Not much, but it counts.

We’re under attack by unidentified flying objects. OK , slight exaggeration. They are tiny insects, and they seem to have a soft lifespan. That’s a polite way of saying that they’ll be done and gone before I can attach a more identifiable label than “tiny bugs”. They seem harmless, although watching the dog using his paws to beat down the blades of grass before settling in tells me that he also finds them to be a scourge.

No new shark alerts.

Please, small town newspaper person. Writing that a local brewery is a “hopping location” does us all wrong. Are you sure they are including proper quantities of hops in the brew? Have you sampled their wares? Is that the reason for the weak writing? So many unanswered questions (for me) on this topic.

Also, telling the world at large that your new lawn bowling club is awesome is leaving much to interpretation. I know: slow news cycle, etc.
