Are there other photos?
I have to salute the farsighted people who did a rather decent job of photographing this area over the last eighty years. Not complete coverage, but close. When we decided to purchase our property, we could “see” what we were getting, from a historical perspective. And now I wonder…
What about some of the other places I’ve lived? Is there a question that I haven’t asked Google, which would unlock some lessons in history, from the land use to the changes? If I ever have a chance to ask someone in certain public libraries, I might get an answer. Until then, I’ll have to settle for random glimpses. Going forward, do I need to get a drone? Probably not, what with the restrictions placed on their use by the government, but it could be interesting.
I’m not ready to make my own maps, but we have a new compass AND a new GPS in the family inventory. Throw in a few sheets of drafting paper and a good pen, and I could have my own record of where stuff is, outside. That firepit, for example. Or the extended driveway. Just riffing.
The press is showing a great deal of “love and respect” for the recently dead prince in London. He wasn’t our monarch. I have a funny suspicion that “this too shall pass”, once the uptick in newspaper sales returns to a normal level. No, I didn’t buy a paper. Didn’t, won’t.
I did learn that axolotls have some very interesting genetic traits (my neighbour has one, in a dish). They can regenerate [fill in the blank]. They breathe through external gills. Cool!
