Sudden squalls
For me, sudden gusts of wind are inconvenient. Not uncomfortable, given that I keep “genny” on standby, but resetting multiple clocks is a reminder that sometimes a good old pendulum coo-koo is capable of withstanding “squalls”. We weren’t warned about today’s moments, but the bridge recorded 135+km, and here at home I had moments in excess of 65km.
In the city, a new industrial building was reduced to a lumber pile, this morning. Oddly, the structural engineer had been onsite, earlier, and gave a professional opinion that all was well.
No big deal. My plan to start on winterizing the RV is postponed for a bit, but the temperatures are clement. The BBQ cover will have to be replaced (already purchased, just not deployed), as the tears are obvious. Hey, almost five years, on this one!
I keep watching the inconveniences of a pandemic. On the eve of the thanksgiving weekend, the grocery stores have an unexpected complaint: their turkeys are too big, what with folks keeping the family gatherings small. Apparently the industry didn’t bother with a model change, and the birds are all oven sized. A strange parallel with automobiles and the spike in fuel prices (what feels like a lifetime ago). To be fair, I haven’t had to burn a hen in years, and if I had, I would figure out how to fill the freezer with sandwich slices and soup. We still have tomorrow, for an impulse buy, but I think I’ll resist. Much prefer a roast of beef, given my druthers.
I missed the VP debate, last evening; seems that a fly stole the show.
