Admiring the completed mudding

posted in environment, photography |

Grey skies. No odour, though. The weather channel confirmed that the pall of smoke from the California wildfires has crossed the continent, and we should accept that as superior to burning woodland. I guess.

I keep wondering if I should be out seeking antifreeze for the RV water system. We’re still early; no snow expected on a short term, but I suspect that many things will be in short supply this year. Best to be prescient. I’ll make a point to head for the hardware store, later this week. The dog enjoys our little roadtrips.

Today’s mail brought the add-in for my (eventual) negative copy system. Yesterday, the actual light box was delivered, by UPS, from the US, without any hidden fees or customs hassle. Could the courier firms be actually starting to understand how an cross-border system should function? In any case, I had ordered a nifty negative carrier from a Kickstarter project: 3D printed, and modular. Since the creator had published his specs, others are free to make it better, and my package contained a slide carrier. I know this doesn’t interest most people, but I think the forethought of the project should be lauded. Now waiting for a single threaded bolt (for my copy stand) before actually getting started on my archives. Should keep my busy through the winter.

I just came back from a peek at my basement. The drywall in “my” area is now all mudded, and for me that was the worst part of the project. I expect the painting and the installation of a suspended ceiling to move quickly.
