Cobbled some connectors
Today, I moved my alternate power supply system a little closer to a step I like to consider as “useful”. Let’s face it; a battery (in its box) or a solar panel, without the required connectors, or a charger that still uses those awful jaw things that are best suited to welding… all fine in theory but hard to rationalize.
And so, with a collection of connectors and wire, I cobbled together the pieces required by my battery system. As of this evening, I can actually use my newer HF, VHF and UHF radios. It wasn’t difficult. I mean, with one small glitch.
I like Anderson Power Pole connectors, in abstract terms. Polarized. Non-permanent. Inexpensive (at $2 each). But, sometimes the little tongue takes a long time to sit properly in the frame. And with my eyesight, I don’t know whether the blame should lie with the technology or the technician.
No matter. As I mentioned, my new battery can be USED, which is beyond ADMIRED. And I have several ways to recharge (it). All good. Makes me want to buy more; it’s a good thing that my dealer is sold out.
Meanwhile, the kayak and its captain have been off exploring Island waterways. Moving beyond the map and seeing if water is different, from place to place. There will be photos, elsewhere. And while the Rogue is here, and the little green boat fits inside, best to profit from a system that works. The new car will need something different. A rooftop rack? Perhaps. My job will be to lift things into position.
