Another round of tracking begins

posted in economy |

NO more jokes from here about “slow boats from China”. Today, I briefly held a parcel that was received by Canada Post on the 15th of May past. With an expected travel time of just under a week, you can see that something went wrong.

Actually, today’s delivery was symbolic, as the company had already replaced my lost order and delivered it last week with another carrier. However, the company holding my order (and my financial data) did request that I send the original back to them, should it arrive. Inventory control, etc. And so, within the hour, the box was back in the hands of the posties, with a new tracking number. My dime, but I’ll argue that with the company at another time. Money isn’t always the only measure of satisfaction.

We’re going to make another, better attempt to get a/c repaired in the car. I called a garage in the city, one with high customer recommendation, and the owner has us booked in for pressure tests (with dye tracing). Should the problem be fixed, simply, we’ll take that as a sign that summer should continue. If not, the garage will order the necessary parts and book a return visit. I am confident that we’re going to resolve things.

I noted that the police had to intervene in the welfare of two dogs, left in the car at suppertime earlier in the week. The fine is a reassuring $500 (plus window repair, I assume). If I get stuck in the car (before we repair the a/c), will someone intervene on my behalf?
