Pushed ads and better batteries
The pushed ads on social media are really something. I understand when I search for something, and my timeline gets taken over for the next few days. But what about when I get the “hint” that I need a product, one which I hadn’t mentioned. Is it chance that today I received a recommendation for a super shower control (beyond my needs or means)? And since I clicked on the link, am I fated to face the spray until next week? I guess so.
We had a two-dog day, when Maisie came to play this afternoon. Her human was hard at work downstairs, so she stayed very close to me. Almost as if she knew that I held the keys to the dog biscuit cupboard (not actually locked; from a dog’s point of view simply out of reach). Anyhow, the afternoon passed without incident and now that the “ice” has been broken, I’m sure she’ll be back.
I spent too long pricing various battery options (think LiFePO4), which means that I’m going to have a double ad-whammy going forward. The problem with new battery technology is that the dealers are elsewhere. Be in in Asia, be it in America, I still have to find someone willing to ship to the soon-to-be white North. Perhaps I can wait this one out. After all, my power needs are covered by other systems until good weather returns, and by then they may have invented something even better.
I’ve been subject to battery progression for a long time. Before I could read or write, I admired those glass jars filled with acid that my father kept below his work desk.
I learned how to reheat early carbon batteries to renew the current. I fought with NiCd, NiMH and so many other recipes through time. And now I lust for the latest and greatest.
