Almost caused a meltdown
Those pesky rules of the road: this afternoon, on my way in to get a few groceries, I spotted a two vehicle “meeting of the minds”, replete with an authoritarian light show. The police are rarely seen around here; in five years, this is the first time I’ve come upon such an arresting scene. What could it have been? Excessive speed? Incorrect passing technique? Failure to yield to whatever? Now, I want to know.
My postbox, today, contained a small envelope filled with some specialized connectors. BNC to binding posts. Finally, a way to play with antenna creation. And I will. My desire for a new “portable antenna” is having a hard time to get past the high price point, so homebrew (not beer related, as a side note) might be the only way to move beyond my current attachment to a vertical antenna firmly planted in the front yard. Can’t take that on the road. I still have the winter to play with my variable capacitors, creating a mag loop. For the next few months, my ability to fabricate a solution will be tested.
Almost created a crisis here, when I put the cooling system back to it’s normal state. High humidity had allowed some sweating downstairs. Dangerous footing. I had been warned, and applied the only fix I knew. Unfortunately, I didn’t get around to announcing this, and when it came time to demonstrate the new chiller to a visitor, she who writes the cheques was in a panic. I was out, getting groceries, and arrived back just before a virtual meltdown. My life, stumbling from one emergency to the next.
