An inter-visit pause

posted in environment |

Reminds me of some Latin I learned, eons ago, “Veni , vidi, vici”… today our tinies left, having come, seen and conquered our hearts. Yes, the little ones were fun to have around. Could be years before they return (isn’t that how comets work?)

I mean, I knew they weren’t in our area for long. The kitchen calendar has it all, in broad strokes of the marker, showing arrivals and departures at summer central. Now I have a “down day” to redo the rooms and restock the larder. It’s what we wanted, in deciding to build in Paradise. Yes, we’re a long way from town, but when holidays are on, that hour-plus is just a chance to enjoy the scenery, right?

Back to the usual life, where renovations continue, and we’re now ready to choose lighting fixtures in anticipation. Unlike those of you who live next to the Hardware Emporium, we have to make decisions based on photos from a web page. Yes, everything will fit, due to industry standards, but it’s a guess if we’ll like what we will own. Son #3 is trying to find the correct bulb for a lamp he bought without the box, and just telling the clerk that “I need a bulb” doesn’t get you far. I hope we’ll end up with fixtures that fit with our in-house bulb standards.

No mail today, but I did order the side rails for my radio, from a vendor in Europe. He seems to care about his customers, if the email messages are any indication, and I should receive a well-wrapped package in a week or two. Who knew that mail from Europe is faster than pretty much anywhere else I shop.
