Back on the pad
Although the kids plan on heading back home tomorrow, the weather has been on their side all week. Lots and lots of beach time. As well, Basin Head is now open for business, after a week plus of dredging the run. Even the dogs profited from sand and sun, although my black coated beast had less desire than his comrade.
The RV is back on the pad. Duly inspected for another year, with a hint that we’ll be buying more tires before long. It might be the weight, but I would have hoped for more time between investments; the road and the rubber are mismatched.
In Cavendish, the music festival is underway. No, I won’t be going out there.
I’m trying to decide if my new radio will get “enhancements” if I license some software. Times have changed, and where new tubes would have been the answer to most questions, fifty years ago, now we look at the features of utility code. Just think, a panadapter (who even knew what that was, half a century ago).
I learned that we should have read up on the industries of Lima, OH before our visit. I knew about the surplus radio store. I didn’t know about the armored vehicle factory, or the long history of building steam locomotives. Perhaps I should make Wiki an integral part of any travel plans.
Life as a right whale continues to be tough. What with the large number of deaths by ship strike, the government is especially attentive. Right now, three are entangled in fishing gear (which often leads to their demise). No easy answers.
