Dino-sized fascination
Roadside halt coffee isn’t always good, no matter how many varieties are available. Or so I’ve been told. I had missed that chance to burn my tongue and stayed out in the crisp wind, to allow a quick squeegee of the road dust from the various windows. We’re seeing new things today; wild animals, as yet nameless, and large deposits of “anhydrous sodium sulphate. I think it is used in soap manufacture, and the brilliant white traces are everywhere. I have to wonder about the local water quality . SK continues to be flat and free of any trees larger than shrubbery. Such a pity.
Anyhow, we also spotted our first cowboy gat, which is “the sign”. We”re approaching cattle country, and around here, folks who may not even know which end of a bovine is apt to kick where one, as a sign of avocation. And shortly after, we crossed the line, into AB. Right now I believe in mountains and another ocean, despite both being days away.
Our campground, this evening, hasca dinosaur thing. Just like everything else in this place (Drumheller and the Badlands). Believe me, as someone living in a province fixated on an imaginary redheaded girl, I understand branding. Here, the cows are probably eartagged, as all energy is attached to their dino-sized money maker. They have cliffs and gullies and fossilized bones. Might as well profit from it.
I have a new problem. My laptop no longer connects to wifi, and I lack some essential diagnostic tools. If miracles are real, I need one, overnight. There are workarounds, but typing with one finger gets old, fast.
