Sticker price

posted in politics |

More signs of spring: the CG William Alexander was down below this afternoon. That’s proof that the ice has left; the buoys are being set out. With the start of lobster season still two weeks away, call it early. As well, the RV left the driveway for a bit this afternoon. That’s proof that we can dare to burn off some of the winter Diesel, given that starting and running are now assured. And I called and confirmed that we will install the air chiller unit, ASAP. Getting that done before the heat wave.

McGill University announced that they will change the name of their varsity sport teams, by next year. The term “Redmen” has been confirmed as offensive, and it is time for a change. No word yet on the replacement name, as a contest will (surely) be held, but I salute the effort to redress the image.

The new ON government isn’t going to take the “imposition of a carbon tax lightly”. As of now, stickers (remember, the premier owns a sticker company) will be required on all gas pumps, with strong reminders that the price now includes federal government taxes. It always did, but let’s not quibble. More interesting is the other reminder to station operators and owners. These new stickers had better be visible, OR ELSE… fines ranging from $500 per day, up to $10K per day. You know, in an ordinary world, government propaganda is paid for by the government. In this supreme world, propaganda is free. At least, I think so. The news article failed to mention how much the sticker company is going to earn, or even who owns the sticker company. I’ll get back to you on that part.
