When the doorman comes calling
On certain nights, when the winds are high from the south, and the skies spill water, we have an intruder. Well, an intrusion. The rain is coming in, to our chagrin. We’ve contacted the door manufacturer and they’ve reacted, after a fashion. That is, they dispatch a door technician, who carefully measures and photographs the scene of our crime. He (always the same lad) renews the weather strips, promises to keep an open file .For our part, we promise to keep an open mind. And off we go, waiting for another change of season. He was back today, for a repeat performance. I have a suspicion that until someone comes to investigate, on a rainy night, the culprit will remain at large.
There is the option of changing out the door completely. Not just a “remove and reseat” repair; we’ve already done that. It may be time to go back to a door with multiples layers of glass. I asked the door guy, and he agrees that openings are standard. It could be a plug and play. Or, maybe, his efforts today will be all the mojo required. I remain hopeful.
I missed the big football game, completely. On purpose and completely. When the Twitter account from my preferred university squad asked if “there was anything good on TV?” and then mentioned that he had a tape of the last playoff match (from back in the fall), I read the cue. Forget the US spectacle of punts, over and over, and opt for anything else. The advertisements will be available on YouTube.
