The toast was good

posted in food |

Seems like an inauspicious start to the new year; raisin toast, milk and coffee, a blizzard. I didn’t have to do anything except sit at my usual place near the dining room window and watch the world go by. Of course, with visibility down to a few meters and counting, there wasn’t much to see. The toast was good, though.

Social media kicked in, so I had someone to talk to during the afternoon (yes, we still talk, despite the new technologies). And when I had run out of gambits, I headed to the downstairs level of the house, where music is available on demand, as long as I’m willing to get both hands in to the process. Nothing remarkable; call it a “dawless jam”, if you are so inclined.

I did a minimum of community service (typed up the minutes from our last meeting), but when it came to the task at hand (composing the text of a RFP), I came up with nothing. After checking the headers on several thousand postings at the provincial level (we’re busy!) and perusing a sample from that list, I’ve hit a brick wall. I have no idea how to proceed. There’s obviously a process behind the efforts, but I don’t have the relevant experience. I may have to return to the table and invoke the “one for all, all for one” model to see if someone else has any idea how this should play out. Meanwhile, we’re edging closer to springtime.

This is a holiday, so the newspapers were idling. Nothing to see here. Most of the levees were cancelled, which means that we’ll need to extend the festive period, as a minimum.
