The sudden calm of an ended summer

posted in education |

And there you have it. Summer is over. Doesn’t matter that the temperature is clement, or that the beach is just as sand-covered today as was a week ago. The plug has been pulled.

I admit that we’re a day or two earlier than some other years. But, the big Monday (Labour Day) is hours away. School is looming on the horizon. Already, the forecasters are prognosticating about the depth of snow for the next few months. Traffic heading around the Lighthouse Loop is statistically at zero.

many dream of a “shoulder season”, but when you pair the lack of available clerks in the boutiques with the absent tourists, not much will happen. I mean, I might be tempted to travel, but my needs are few. Feed me from time to time and keep the highways ahead of me.

I wonder if this wouldn’t be a good moment to send invitations to tbe siblings. Sure, some of them still answer to the beat of an employer, but they could consider the calm of an Island seaside vacation. Even the bug count has dropped to acceptable levels.

We could kick iff our sandals, squeak in the beige ground cover, reminisce about our comparative childhoods. Same parents, different years.

I might just do that. Help to break the autumn boredom. Otherwise, I’m back to the ebook piles. What about the rest of you. What do you do when the calm returns?

I’m looking forward to the promised editor update in WordPress. The current version is not exactly a charm for small edits and spelling fixes.
