Can’t take him anywhere

posted in pets |

The hairy fellow has certain shortcomings, in a social context. Why, just this evening, while we sat in the mall parking lot, he started his imitation of a gurgling fountain. And then he threw up. Of course, we’re now washing the back seat blanket.

And while we were out in the parking lot, making sure that the gurgling was over, he made a beeline for the hitching post. Had to mark his passage. I swear, we can’t take him anywhere. Oh well.

Getting set for a family visit, which means that the house is now tidy. Can I say “again”? That makes it sound as if I lead a reactionary existence. I actually enjoy the thrill of taking the vacuum out for a tour of the living space. It captures all the “dust bunnies” that seem to form whenever the hairy fellow is left to spend time alone. Stress? Maybe. For him. For sure, for us. We even spent some time outside with his “fancy brush” that combs deep and comes up with foundation material for local bird nests. In fact, if I factor in the contribution to their food supply and construction materials, I’m keeping the avian village in a level of comfort enjoyed by few of their neighbours. Only a matter of time before word gets out and I become a target destination.

Just missed my chance to listen in on the local marine channel, this afternoon. By the time the bulletins came up on social media, a fishing boat had time to sink (across the strait), and the Coast Guard sailed over to retrieve a life raft. All safe, thankfully.
