Revisit the matrix of Mendel
We’re now into the season where travel is predicated by temperature. If it’s too hot, the dog can’t come along. Since we don’t leave him to his own devices (based on several years of research), this is the time of the year where going out requires shade/darkness, or a good oldfashioned storm followed by a cold front. Get the thermometer into the comfort zone for a creature that has evolved into wearing a fur coat and being unable to sweat. A natural fail.
Happily, this morning met the required values, so I did get out for the community breakfast. Once home, I had a short turnaround before heading off to the local history meeting (monthly, most months, watch for notices). There was a guest speaker who tried to bring us up to speed on the basics of DNA testing. For some (those who remembered the matrix of Mendel and his pea plants), easy; for others, who bog down at the idea of siblings with different eye colours, the interest level died “on the vine”. No matter. The DNA kits will continue to be popular, as the need to harvest cousins continues.
I had left a pan of pork ribs in the oven, and they cooked. Too much, maybe. The difference between succulent and chewy (jerky chewy) is small, but the flavor of one doesn’t equal the other. I have another package of meat, just delivered. Now to wait for me to get on task. Imagine the odour, and then sleep on the results. I will.
