Finally, a date
After almost a century of interdiction, the federal government has finally announced the date for the start of what will be known (I imagine) as the Grass Act. I’m not affected by it, but I look forward to a reduction in the number of folks headed off to detention because of personal choices. One question remains: what makes October 17th the target date. Were high government officials throwing darts at an office calendar, while trying to mask their giggles?
I’m undertaking a home study program. Lots of alphabet soup, based on this morning’s video lecture for neophytes. Due to inattention, I can’t recall the first few minutes. (This is serious material; I’m going to have to review the course content). Maybe they were talking about tires? Some of the acronyms include:

- TWR/TLR/VLR Tongue Weight Rating, Tongue Load Rating, Vertical Load Rating
- TML Tire Maximum Load (Load Index)
- UVW (Unloaded Vehicle Weight – 1996 RVIA Definition)
- CCC (Cargo Carrying Capacity – 6/2008 NHTSA Definition Towable Only)
- OCCC (Occupant and Cargo Carrying Capacity – 6/2008 NHTSA definition Motorized Only)
- NCC (Net Carrying Capacity – 1996 RVIA Definition)
- SCWR (Sleeping Capacity Weight Rating – 2000 RVIA Definition)
I don’t recall a single definition from the video, but it all seemed terribly important. I can’t wait to see what chapter 2 will cover (perhaps something in plain language?). Just wait until I start adding these to conversations with my eldest. He should be suitable impressed, right? I wonder: should I learn the terms in both official languages.
