Odd sense of revenge

posted in environment |

Wouldn’t it be lovely, if we could simply react to a recent remark as “just a joke”; if we could roll our eyes and carry on? Learning that the trade dispute with the US is due, in part, to a perceived slight from more that two hundred years ago is serious. You remember, when the Canadians came south and burned down the White House. If you don’t, take the time to learn that their head official “still does…”

Meanwhile, the leaders of the G7 are arriving in Canada, where that same ongoing trade dispute will be a hot issue. We don’t have a White House (too easily lost in a heavy snowfall), so other peace offerings will have to be proffered.

Not that it matters, but Quebec City is sending employees from the area around the legislature home for a couple of days of “down time”. Seventeen thousand of them. Just in case. You can’t make this stuff up.

Picked up our tickets (for a trad music concert next week). Dismay; the headliners make up exactly 50% of a group. A bit like going to see the Beatles, with John and Paul absent due to prior commitments. I guess we’ll get the alternative setlist.

Our bird feeder has a brand new baffle. Anti seed bandit hardware. And I thought we had that situation under control, using a section of oversized soda bottle plastic. Now the question will be “So does it work?” Smart critters…

Still faced with frost warnings (several days now). Season shift. Cold weather, when summer is expected. As well, this is an anniversary: we moved in, three years ago.
