The constant show
The weather is my biggest and best show, bar none. No need to turn on a TV for a spectacle; I just have to stare out the window. And I do. Truth is, not much else happens around here (and that’s how I want it). The music is in my head, but the show is outside.
Right now, the sea ice cover changes every few hours. It goes from open water to a white mass, depending on the winds and the tides. This will pass; I should take a few more photos. Our ground cover from winter is gone, pretty much, although there is a winter storm watch in place for tomorrow. I’m not afraid.
In fact, CBC published the snowfall amounts for the last five winters, and this has been an easy one by all metrics. In fact, I had a short discussion on this subject with son #3 (given that he was here for a whole winter, two years ago). I pointed out that this lack of precipitation will affect the crops, next summer. We should hear the scream from certain corporate bodies insisting on a need for “deep irrigation wells”, real soon.
He agreed that the need for long, skinny fries shouldn’t be the motive force, especially when mashed with gravy is much better. And as for investing in potato futures; being poor is actually OK. No nightmares about capital losses. I jest, a little; we are too poor.
And so, back to the weather. Today it was cool, clear, comfortable. No downside. Even the muddy roads get a chance to recover.
